It? I can't figure out how that would work since the code is attached to the old owner's IP/computer. How does that process work, exactly? Is it legal to buy a used disc so long as the new owner is still the only one using My question is basically whether theseÄiscs with the code will actually work if purchased used or "like new/new" from someone else or used if someone has previously used them. It is my understanding that sometime after 1997, Microsoft incorporated some type of system that checks the server and verifies the key code for the disc to make sure that more than one person/computer isn't using it. Right now there's an Office 2007 version going for about $15 in "like new condition" that has what looks like the original Microsoft case, disc and code for 5 computers. According to the feedback (very high with few to no complaints), the discsĪre working and the code and everything works from what the feedback comments say. I see various version of Office 2007 and later that are for sale on places like Ebay, listed in "like new" and sometimes "used" condition and claiming to have the code with them. I'd like to get more familiar with Office in general. Want or need the latest or greatest version for such a small amount of use. I use Word to type out a few letters here and there, and also for Resumes. I rarely use Office and literally still have my Office '97 that is still kicking after all of these years.
